KITCHEN & BREAKFAST ROOM

My initial task was to assess the long empty space which was to become a kitchen/breakfast room. The work began with the layout.

The concept here was to draw the eye from the kitchen to the wonderful antique warmth and informality of the eating area. The purpose of the kitchen island was to give an area to work from whilst also being aesthetically pleasing.

The huge blue dresser echoed the blue colour of the French bench in the window guiding the eye to the garden outside. The dresser provided ideal storage and display. Its size and colour, being mirrored by the blue of the French bench at the end of the room, draws the eye to the garden. This enhances the sense of the space further. The warmth of the chestnut floor with the lovely raspberry colour walls makes the kitchen vibrant. Different colour baskets give a softness to the room.
